Highlights
The MV Carpe Vita, a sister ship to the Carpe Diem and Carpe Novo liveaboards, is a luxury yacht offering year-round diving in the Maldives. There are 10 comfortable cabins spread over 3 decks, each with private bathroom facilities, individually controlled AC, storage space, safety deposit boxes, and a desk and chair. On the lower deck are 6 standard cabins, which have one queen-size bed and a super single bed, the main deck has two superior cabins, which have king-size beds, which can be separated into two super single beds and ocean views. The upper deck has 2 VIP spacious suites with a California King bed and ocean views.
Social areas aboard the Carpe Vita liveaboard include the air-conditioned salon and lounge, equipped with a flat-screen TV and entertainment system. Meals are prepared by a fine-dining chef and served semi-buffet style at the back of the boat's open-air dining and bar area. There are 3 partially shaded sun decks with comfortable loungers where guests can soak up the sun and enjoy the sea breeze.
Carpe Vita dive itineraries explore some of the best dive sites in the Maldives. Cruises are seven to ten nights long, and divers can see everything from pelagics like mantas, sharks, and whale sharks to tiny shrimps, nudibranchs, and ghost pipefish. Diving takes place from the accompanying dive dhoni (boat), and free Nitrox is available for those certified.

A no-brainer (value for money-wise) for visiting the Central Atolls.
It's all about your adventures on a liveaboard, and our dive guide, Nathi, made all of our dreams of a great adventure come true. The cabins were spacious and well air-conditioned, the food was plentiful and delicious, and the boat was very comfortable.

Carpe Diem was the best part of the Maldives.
The boat trip was by far the best part of the Maldives experience. The crew was nice, everything worked well, the dive crew was concerned that we see exciting things each dive.

We are glad we finally made it to the Maldives.
We were a group of nine and had a great time. They were flexible, we weren't keen on seeing a shark feeding so they took us diving. We saw plenty of sharks which was great. The dinner on the beach was fun. Weather could have ruined it but it all worked out fine.

- We liked our guide a lot but others in our group were not pleased with their guide.. It had a good flow of activities.. Everyone was very polite..

Not bad overall
About the dives: (1) The gear I rented was not well maintained - the BCD I rented had all kinds of issues throughout the trip (unintended and continuous inflating under water whilst leaking at the inflator when surface). I encountered a serious BCD incident at one of the dives (unintended and continuously severe inflating under water), for which I had to disconnect the inflator of the BCD in early stage of the dive and managed buoyancy by lungs and kicks for the rest of the dive. The more important thing is, before this incident, I reported the BCD issues to the dive team not once but three times. I think they took some actions to repare it but they did not replace the BCD (probably there was not a spare one) - there had been a mild leaking issue throughout all the dives... (2) This dive team is relatively "chill" - it would depend on the divers’ style and expectation; and this comment is based on my personal experience (comparing with the previous dive masters / guides I have dived with). If you are very experienced divers who want to explore by yourself, this team will give you the freedom. If you want an enthusiastic dive team who will actively guide you to explore the sites and the species, you may need to manage your expectation.

Good boat and crew, would repeat
Good, clean and spacious* boat with friendly crew that mostly didn’t mingle with the divers (I have no problem with that, and actually appreciated being left alone). They showed nice flexibility in picking dive sites based on conditions. All dives are at air or (recommended) Nx32. The dive guides mostly enforce a 30m/100ft max depth, which was fine for a Central Atoll itinerary (there was only one dive that was worth going deeper, and I did go to 37m without any complaints - although that was toward the end of the trip, so I’m guessing they were less concerned about unknown divers’ skill). Cabins were clean; our cabin (one of two) on the bridge level was good size with a surprisingly large bathroom. Plenty of hot water and A/C. Meals were plentiful and varied, with a good focus on local cuisine but extra stuff for more conservative palates; some of the other diners were vegetarians, and they seemed fine with the variety. 3 dives per day (one on the first day and two on the last) left plenty of time for relaxing. Overall, I would dive CV again. * There were 16 divers on this trip, and it felt “right”. The boat could take 20; I think it’d be fine, although the dinner arrangements would probably feel a like cramped.
