Don't hesitate, book it!
For our first liveaboard, we were very impressed with how delicious and plentiful the food was. The boat was clean and obviously well cared for. The amount of space on the boat was insane- we had a full boat on our trip yet there was enough room for everyone to spread out. The bedroom and ensuite also had a lot of space and a good amount of storage. The diving was incredible, we saw a lot of new critters big and small. But, the thing that really made this trip exceptional was the staff. All staff members seemed so happy to be there, friendly, and willing to talk/hangout for hours. They did a great job as a guide- pointing out sea life and make sure everyone was safe and having a great dive. We will 100% be coming back to the Maldives on Blue Force One again.

Incredible experience
I had the most incredible experience o Blue Force One liveaboard in the Maldives! From the moment I stepped on board, the crew went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. They were warm, friendly, and always ready to help—truly making the trip unforgettable. The food was absolutely amazing. They not only served delicious meals every day, but also made sure to accommodate all my requests. I always had options, and everything was fresh and full of flavor. A huge thank you to Gabriel and Maria, who were the most wonderful hosts—always available, approachable, and making sure everyone felt welcome and looked after. And a special shoutout to our dive guide, Brian, who was exceptional. His guidance and support made each dive safe, fun, and memorable. I also want to mention Joram, who was so supportive during a dive where I struggled and had to surface early. His calm and helpful approach made me feel safe and reassured. I can’t recommend this experience enough—it was everything I hoped for and more!

Beyond the Blue: The Harsh Reality of Diving in the Maldives
My recent diving trip to the Maldives was a mix of exhilarating moments and underwhelming realities. On the bright side, the adrenaline rush from dropping into the dive sites was superb. The current is treacherous and diving here will somewhat enhance your skills, especially using a reliable reef hook! Sightings of pelagics like sharks, mantas, and stingrays were consistent and practically guaranteed—except for the elusive whale sharks, which unfortunately didn’t make an appearance. The crew on the liveaboard were friendly and helpful throughout, and the meals served onboard were delicious. However, there were no snacks provided between dives, which is something most other liveaboards usually include and was definitely missed. Cabin-wise, the air conditioning kept things comfortable, but the overall maintenance left much to be desired. Doorknobs and the shower fixtures were rusted or peeling, clearly in need of replacement. The designated camera table was also inadequate, lacking enough space for all the divers’ gear. As for the dive sites themselves—aside from the thrill of seeing pelagics and a variety of fish—there was nothing particularly spectacular. It was disheartening to see that most of the coral reefs were either dead or dying, likely due to rising ocean temperatures and climate change. The once-vibrant garden of table corals was now brown, brittle, and lifeless. Beyond the diving, the overall Maldives experience felt overrated and expensive for the average tourist. In addition to steep trip costs, visitors are required to pay a Maldives tax of $180 USD and a Green tax of $85 USD. A visit to Malé revealed deeper issues, particularly around waste management. There was a noticeable amount of uncollected trash, and plastic bottles floated along the shoreline—an unfortunate sight in such a renowned travel destination. In the end, while the diving had its high points, the overall experience left me underwhelmed. If I had to rate the trip, it would be a 4 out of 10.

Great itinerary, well executed by a talented, welcoming crew complemented by great critter sighting and tasty food!
We felt very safe with our dive guide and the crew. Diving off of the Dhouni was best experience to date diving off of a boat. Roomy, well appointed, nice that equipment stayed on Dhouni. Efforts to dive specific, busy sites at the least busy times were much appreciated. Dive briefings were detailed and entertaining. Also, enjoyed learning a bit of history along the way. Best food yet on a live aboard. Loved coming away with a wonderful video capturing highlights from the week.
